How will I be taught?

Problem sets πŸ“š

Educational review papers [1] have shown that cramming learning into one day is ineffective, to the contrary, we have designed the problem sets so that learning can be spread throughout the week. After each day of teaching, students will be set a problem set based on the work that has been covered. The sheets will take 2 hours to complete and are designed so that students gain practice on both familiar and unseen content.

Supervisions / Tutorials πŸŽ“

Small group teaching (known as tutorials in Oxford and Supervisions in Cambridge), is a core teaching method at Oxbridge. The course has been designed to emulate this format and provide students with the opportunity to solidify their understanding and ask any questions about the problem set and the work that has been covered in the sessions.

Drills ✏️

To gain a high mark on the PAT, students must work efficiently and at speed. We have therefore designed targeted drills for commonly asked short and multiple choice questions. Our expert instructors will provide tips on time saving techniques and methods of checking these questions. After completing the drills, we anticipate that students will see a significant increase in their speed and accuracy.

Seminars and Examples Classes πŸ’‘

There is a significant body of research [2] that shows that peer to peer learning is one of the most effective ways of understanding a new concept. We have therefore incorporated seminars and examples classes where students are able to learn from one another and discuss problems before solving them. After the students attempt each question, the instructor will discuss the solution and how to tackle similar problems in the future.

Nickeal Sidhu

Meet Your Course Leader

Hi, I'm Nickeal and I have completed my final year of my Natural Sciences degree at Cambridge. I have specialised in Physics and Materials Science. I have over 150 hours of experience teaching physics and look forward to being an instructor on this course!

Testimonials

" Nickeal was supportive in such a way that enabled me to learn how to approach problems myself, rather than just feeding me the answer when I got stuck. He got me to think through my own questions until I came to the right conclusions myself - a skill that I found invaluable during my interviews. I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with Nickeal because it is apparent how enthusiastic about learning he is which always makes everything more fun! - Cambridge Maths Offer Holder"
